Meet the Smoots

Hi--hello--howdy!  Thanks for joining us on the Smoot Route.  We're the Smoots; a couple of not-so-newlywed travel enthusiasts who enjoy "out-of-the-box" travel.  We're blessed to live a fast-paced (sometimes crazy) Army lifestyle of ever-changing plans and moving every couple of years.

From 25-hour road trips, to international travel or weekend getaways in Central Texas, we make our own way--usually on a low budget--and take The Smoot Route.  Often times, our adventures include our best four-legged traveler, Joey.  We especially love taking our pup with us, so we'll be sure to share insights from our best dog-friendly adventures!

Disclaimer:  If you are into high-class hotels, seeing sites from a bus, and Yelp’s Top 10 Lists… we are not those travelers. On our first major trip, we left BWI for an 18-day Europe adventure, with only our plane tickets and plans to stay with friends for a couple of days… We ended up visiting 8 countries in Europe and Africa using nothing but AirBNB, HostelWorld, Sixt, and Google over Wifi.  It was incredible. And we want to show you how easy & exciting it can be to travel the world.
